LANDS, MYTHS AND CULTURES

Art Houz Chennai’s latest show ‘Of Land, Myth and Culture’ brought together seven dynamic artists who, through powerful visual narratives, explored the unlimited capacity of thoughts and ideas that sustain the adversity of time and human condition.
For the show, they engaged centuries of popular culture – from Greek mythology and Mughal legacy to the more pressing questions on ‘self’ and cultural identity – to create works that reshaped experience. Taking influence from their surroundings and personal experiences and combining them with the stories they grew up listening to, the participating artists – Bhaskaran Bara, Chithra E G, Jitha Karthikeyan, K L Leon, Madhu Venugopalan, Mithra Kamalan and Sanam C Narayanan – exhibited works that portrayed the dichotomy of perceived time and legacy. Riddled with mysteries and nostalgia of times long past, the works were of culture that has withstood the sands of time.
