At a fundamental level, art is received as a static object, removed from the experience of time or flux. And though creative expression holds the key to the doors that illuminate the lessons from the past and the promise of the future, how we experience art is, for the most part, overshadowed by the other more obvious aspects of the art. Whereas time, both the entity that inspired it and the medium that enabled it, is somehow lost within the collective consciousness. C.Douglas, through his works, creates works open to multiple interpretations with passing time and experience, Sanam Narayanan captures the very passage of time – the changes and evolution brought in by the movement of the hands – a feature echoed in Vijay Pichumani's works that elaborate the artist’s long and time consuming processes.
