Experimental art suggests a more explicit desire to extend the boundaries of art. In recent times art has become highly experimental. Many artists are experimenting and exploring new techniques and mediums to find their way around. Experimenting becomes a roadmap to navigate and discover the possibilities of creating something new and unexpected. It allows one to explore the wilderness of one’s idea and the wilderness of one’s ability.
This show, ‘Experimental Journey’ brings together some of the creative and powerful artists working on variety of mediums and techniques. It is an exploration of possibilities in art and assimilation of this melange of ideas in one show. The Exhibition showcases a series of artworks by 11 artists: K Yuvaraj, Kandula Pradeep Kumar, Jagath Ravi, Yuvarajan Shanmugam, A. Thalamuthu, Divya P, Maanas Udayakumar, Sreelakshmi K S, R Gokul Raman, Saran Raj V & Kirubakaran Narasiman and the journey to find their own identity by reinventing the language of artistic expression.
It exhibits an assortment of techniques and styles that are unique. It ranges from artist Yuvaraj’s Acrylic on Canvas to artist Gokul Raman’s Woodcut to artist Saran Raj’s Etching on Parai. Divya’s experiment with Jute and Steel adds a new aesthetic to the concept. Fibreglass, Mixed Media, Toddy Paper, Emulsion, Soft Pastels and many other experimental mediums are part of this show. The purpose of this exhibition is to provide a fresh perspective to contemporary art by promoting the expression of freedom, reflected in the works of these artists. Each artist has their distinct style and medium but they all convey the same experimental thought. This motivates the artist to break away from the visual modes and vocabulary of the current traditions.
