Born Tamil Nadu, India 1976;lives and works in Chennai, India
Ganesh began his artistic career in 2000 when he completed his MFA in Chennai. He later went on to study Printmaking with Edinburgh Print Makers, Scotland. Well known for creating works that portray a deep commitment to abstraction, Ganesh is constantly on the quest for innovative concepts in new techniques and forms. One of the four artists in the Genesis group, he delves deep into the expressions of identity, existence – concepts that are subtly encrypted within all our human experiences and memories.
Having won the Tamil Nadu State Award while in college (1998), Ganesh spent the first few years after graduation participating in art residencies and camps held across the country. He was awarded the Lalit Kala Akademi Research Scholarship (2000); the Asia Pacific International Art Award, Seoul (2000) and the Charles Wallace India Trust Arts Fellowship Award, United Kingdom (2004); and his works are part of public art projects both at Hyatt Regency, Chennai and at the Mumbai International Airport. During his stint abroad, Ganesh exhibited his works in a solo exhibition in Edinburgh.
